Jędrzej Wittchen named European of the Year 2008!

On 30 March 2009, in the seat of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, the editorial board of Monitor Unii Europejskiej [European Union Gazette] monthly and the European of the Year Committee honoured a select group of eminent personalities with the European of the Year 2008 title. Jędrzej Wittchen was distinguished in the “Entrepreneur” category.

For several years now, the editorial board of Monitor Unii Europejskiej monthly, headed by the Chief Editor Michal Tyliński, together with the European of the Year Committee, have been awarding the European of the Year title to eminent representatives of scientific circles, politicians, members of local governments, journalists, personalities from the world of culture, entrepreneurs and social activists. This year, the honourable distinction in the “Entrepreneur” category was awarded to Jędrzej Wittchen. The winners in other categories included: Jerzy Stuhr – “World of Culture Personality”, Jacek Żakowski – “Journalist”; Prof. Jerzy Buzek – “Politician”; Ewa Błaszczyk – “Social Activist”; Prof. Jadwiga Staniszkis – “Scientist” and Rafał Dutkiewicz – in the “Public and Professional Activity” category. When assessing the accomplishments of Jędrzej Wittchen, the board and the Committee took into consideration his cooperation with the EU and EU Member States as well as efficient utilisation of the EU funds towards the development of his company.
